The laser emits targeted energy that is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair follicle, destroying the follicle while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Over time, treated hairs fall out and regrowth is significantly reduced or stopped altogether.

Laser hair removal requires multiple sessions because hair grows in cycles, and only active-growth phase (anagen) hairs can be effectively treated.

Typical treatment plan:

  • Face: 6–10 sessions
  • Body (underarms, bikini, legs, arms, etc.): 6–10 sessions
  • Sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on the treatment area and hair growth cycle

Some patients may need maintenance sessions once or twice a year after the initial series.

  • Small areas (upper lip, chin, underarms): 3-5 minutes
  • Medium areas (bikini, half legs, arms): 5–15 minutes
  • Large areas (full legs, back, chest): 10–20 minutes

Treatments are typically performed every 4 to 6 weeks until desired hair reduction is achieved.

Laser Hair Removal using Alexandrite technology with Splendor X Preparation and Aftercare Guidelines

  1. Shave the area 24 hours before your session
  2. Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading the area for 4 weeks prior—hair roots must be intact
  3. Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning (including fake tan) for at least 2 weeks
  4. Do not apply makeup, creams, deodorant, or lotions to the area on the day of treatment
  5. Inform your provider of any medications, especially antibiotics or photosensitizing drugs
  6. Avoid chemical peels or active skin treatments (e.g., retinol, acids) in the area for 7–10 days before

  1. Redness and mild swelling may occur; this typically subsides within a few hours
  2. Apply aloe vera or a soothing cream to calm the skin
  3. Avoid hot showers, saunas, or intense exercise for 24–48 hours
  4. Keep the area clean and dry
  5. Avoid sun exposure and use broad-spectrum SPF 50 on treated areas daily
  6. Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate the area for several days
  7. Hair will shed over 7–14 days; this is normal and expected
